Randy Dearman's Favorite Strike King Lures
Editor's Note: Fifty-three-year-old Randy Dearman of Onalaska, Texas, has fished professionally since 1983. He has fished in the BASS Master's Classic seven times, as well as achieving numerous top-10 wins across the country. Dearman works as part of Strike King's pro-fishing team.
Question: Which new Strike King lure is your favorite?
Dearman: I really like the new Bitsy Flip. It's a small bait that's built with a really good hook. If bass get finicky at all, you can downsize to this Bitsy Flip and still have a bait that can handle big fish.
Question: What kind of trailer are you putting on it?
Dearman: The new 3X Bitsy Craw.
Question: Where are you fishing the Bitsy Flip?
Dearman: I catch fish on this bait during the spring, during the summer around boat docks and in rocky lakes -- wherever there are spotted bass out in deeper water. The Bitsy Flip has a smaller profile, and it's just a real fish-catcher.
Question: Are you flipping it?
Dearman: No, just mostly casting it. I just hop it slowly across the bottom.
Question: What are you catching on the Bitsy Flip?
Dearman: We catch smallmouth, largemouth and spotted bass. I think because it's small and compact you get more bites when the fish get finicky.
