More on 3X Technology

Mark RoseEditor's Note: Thirty-one-year-old Mark Rose of Marion, Arkansas, has fished professionally for some 4 years. In the past, he’s worked as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America's national office. He went pro with Strike King several years ago. Although he's never won a tournament, he proves his consistency by always finishing near the top.

Question: Why do you like the 3X trailer?

Rose: I think this trailer is the best on the market. Strike King has had trailers of all different styles, but this trailer, in both stained and clear water, gives off more action than any other trailer out there.

Mark RoseThe 3X technology gives off more action than any other bait out there. It doesn't tear up, you can catch 100 fish on the back of a spinner bait with one 3X trailer, and it just won't tear up at all. Strike has colors to match every spinner bait pattern out there. The bait has two little legs that kick the entire time it goes through the water, whether you're slow-rolling or burning it. This lure has so much more action than any other trailer out there.

Question: Is there any specific way to rig it?

Rose: Just thread on the 3X trailer. I really like to put my hook in and thread it the way I normally do; then I let the hook come out the very end of it. I prefer to pull it through the trailer and then bring it back. Basically, I just bring it in an about an inch and a half in the trailer, pull the hook out, and push it up on the shaft of your spinner bait.

Mark RoseQuestion: When did the 3X trailer make a difference?

Rose: I can't think of one particular time because I always throw it. Anytime I'm throwing a spinner bait, it's on there. Every fish that I have caught with spinner bait in the last year has been with this 3X trailer.

Question: Is there an ideal condition for using the 3X trailer?

Rose: I don't throw a trailer on the spinner bait in certain water conditions. I always throw it when I'm fishing in real clear water, or anytime I'm trying to get a big profile on a bait. Mark RoseI had an incident over at Lake Seminole not too long ago. My partner caught a big fish on a spinner bait and I wasn't throwing a spinner bait. So, I switched to a spinner bait, and I looked over and realized he had a big profile spinner bait. I wanted to make sure that whenever I threw my spinner bait it had a trailer on there. Anytime you fish for big fish especially in clear water you want that big profile. Whenever you are around big ones, always use the trailer. This method helps add length to your bait.
