Mark Davis - Five Lures That Got Me To The Classic
The 3/8-ounce Premier Elite Jig
Editor's Note: Mark Davis, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, is ranked third by www.bassfan.com. He won the Angler-of-the-Year title in 1995, 1998 and 2001 and the 1995 Bassmasters Classic.
Question:What's the second lure that earned you a birth in this year's Classic?
Davis: The 3/8-ounce Premier Elite Jig in black and blue with a Strike King pork bait as a trailer. We were faced with spring conditions and shallow water, and the Premier Elite Jig allowed me to fish shallow cover. At Lake Eufaula, in Eufaula, Alabama, the jig produced a 9-pound bass out of a brush pile. I was casting to a submerged brush pile that I had found on a Series 5 crankbait. The jig allows you to give a slower imitation that bass often want.
