Mark Davis - Five Lures That Got Me To The Classic
3X Lizard
Editor's Note: Mark Davis, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, is ranked third by www.bassfan.com. He won the Angler-of-the-Year title in 1995, 1998 and 2001 and the 1995 Bassmasters Classic.
Question: Tell me another lure that helped you get to the Classic?
Davis: At Santee Cooper in South Carolina, both the 3X Lizard and 3X Centipede helped me catch and release 86 pounds of bass. This lure has great action in the water and is incredibly durable. I fished around stumps with those lures, and they helped me catch big fish. I was fishing in shallow areas, spawning-type water and casting to visible stumps.
Question: What do you think your chances are in New Orleans?
Davis: I didn't have a productive practice, but you never know what's going to happen. If I base it on what I did during the practice, then I would say I wouldn't have a good tournament. At the same time, when we go back, things may have changed, and I could find some bass. I'm planning on it.
