Get To Know Mark Davis
Know Mark Davis
Editor's Note: You've seen Mark Davis on TV, perhaps have heard him present at a seminar and read about him in magazines. But, when you peel away the fishing veneer, who is the man inside the shirt with all the patches on it who listens to the roar of outboard engines all day while dancing across the tops of waves in a fiberglass bass boat? What's the man behind the legend like, and what kind of person is he? This week, we want you to get to know Mark Davis.
Thirty-nine-year-old Mark Davis of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, married his wife, Tilly, 15-years ago. Their son James is 12, and the Davis's two newest children, Hunter and Fisher, are 21-month-old twins that the Davises adopted when the children only were 5 days old.
"We weren't planning on adopting any children, but the Good Lord had a different plan. These two children needed a good home, and the Lord intended for us to provide it for them. So, when the situation presented itself to us, without very much thought, we just adopted them. For the last 12 years, we've taken James with us on the road, going to tournaments and practicing fishing. We home-schooled him so he could be with us. But now with these new babies, Tilly and I don't know what we're going to do for sure. Probably this year James will go to school at home, and Tilly and the twins will still travel with me some. I really like having my family on the road with me, and I don't enjoy being gone from them so much. And, now that we have these two little ones, I've just got to have them around me, too."
