From Bull Riding to State Bass-Fishing Pro and then National Bass-Fishing Pro with Brian Clark
Editor’s Note: Brian Clark of Fort Worth, Texas, one of the newest Strike King Pros, went from being a professional bull rider to a professional bass fisherman. This week, we’ll find out more about Clark and learn what leaving the world of bull riding and transitioning to being a local state-fishing pro in Texas and then moving to the BASS Elite Series has been like.
Part 4: Sexy Swimmer?
Question: Brian, about which one of the new Strike King products are you the most excited?
Clark: Right now, I’m trying to get one of the new Strike King Wake Shads. At the 2009 Bassmaster Classic, after the first day, there were only six of them left on display. I really want one. Or, better yet, I want all of them.
Question: Why do you like the Wake Shad?
Clark: The Wake Shad is a new swim bait that you can reel really fast. There are a number of other swim baits on the market, but I’ve never seen one you can reel as fast as the Wake Shad. If a day is cloudy, rainy or windy, you can wear-out the bass with a good swim bait. But most swim baits swim really slowly. However, you can reel the Wake Shad fast, and it doesn’t flop over to one side or the other like most swim baits do.
Question: What color do you like?
Clark: Of course, I prefer the Sexy Shad color. The entire line of Sexy Shad lures has proven success. When I go to a new lake, I’ll try a wide variety of colors, but my fall-back color is always the Sexy Shad. The Sexy Shad color has consistently proven it can catch lots of big bass and win tournaments. That color is the most-natural-looking color on the market today. So, not only do I prefer the Sexy Shad color in the Wake Shad, but I like it on my crankbaits and my spinner baits.
