In Strike King Journal entry
#41, Mark Rose talked about using Strike King's Bitsy
Tube...
Question: Have there been any more
times when Strike King has saved your day of fishing?
Rose: This past year, on Beaver Lake,
in Arkansas, I was in a full-blown sight-fishing tournament.
I'd successfully used a Kevin VanDam Tube. However, I was
working one particular spotted bass, a 2-pounder, and it was
acting like an adolescent male who wouldn't commit to anything.
That fish would pick up the tube and just hold it, but I couldn't
get the bass to eat the whole thing down to where the hook
was.
In near desperation, I started digging through my tube box.
I remembered packing some Strike King Bitsy Tubes, in case
I got in a tough situation for smaller fish. I thought this
might be the perfect little 2-1/2-inch tube I needed, and
it fit a 2/0 hook. This lure was a little subtler, bulky,
white, and something to which the fish would still want to
react.
I knew the Bitsy Tube was also small enough for the fish
to be able to get the entire tube in its mouth, and the hook
would set. Thanks to that Strike King lure, I caught that
2-1/2-pound fish. So don't think for one second that the 2-1/2-inch
Strike King Bitsy Tube is not a fantastic sight-fishing bait,
because I know from personal experience that it works very
well.
