Todd Faircloth shares the difference between two baits that have become staples in his tackle box: the Thunder Cricket and the Square bill crankbait.
The Strike King Thunder Cricket is a bladed jig, which is a very versatile bait. Fish this bait around grass or any type of aquatic vegetation. This bait really shines in the pre-spawn when the water temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s, but it catches fish all year round. These baits can be put in places that other baits can’t, such as skipped underneath docks.
This bait comes in four different sizes to choose from, whether the goal is to imitate a shad or a brim.
The other bait that Todd Faircloth throws anywhere in the country, at all times of the year is the Strike King Square Bill. This bait comes in a 1.0, 1.5 and 2.5 size. This is a super versatile bait to fish around rock and wood, such as lay downs, stumps, or any other rock transition. Todd Faircloth fishes square bills around grass as well, but it doesn't go through the grass as well as the Thunder Cricket does. These are two great baits if they are thrown in the right places at the right time and they can be very productive.
